JUNIOR DOMESTIC FAQs

Games are played on Saturdays from 8 am till 6 pm. Junior Domestic competition fixtures are constructed on an age flow system, starting with the youngest age groups, and concluding with the oldest age groups. For example, U8s and U10s will have a game tip off time of 8:15am or 9:05am and U20 will have a game tip off time of 3:45pm or 4:35pm. Game ‘tip-off’ times for each age group may vary slightly each season due to the fluctuations in total competition team entries. All games are played at different venues within the City of Whittlesea area.

Our Domestic Junior Competitions are grouped by age. Players need to be under an age (not turning the age during the season) for the age group they are placed.
The Junior Domestic competition currently has U8 mixed, U10, U12, U14, U16, U18 and U20 boys and girls age groups. Each age group is then split into different grade based on skill level of the team. For example, U12 A grade, U12 B grade, U12 C Grade and U12 D Grade.Â
Junior Domestic Competition here at Whittlesea Pacers Basketball is run over two seasons: Winter commencing in April (Term 2 and runs until the end of term 3) Summer commencing in October (Term 4 and runs until the end of term 1) There are no games played during school holidays, public holidays, and long weekends.
The best way to pick a club to see which clubs works best for you for location. Contact the club which suits you best directly to see if they have places available. As a suggestion, ask your child if any of their friends currently play, and if there are friends who play, speak with the parents to find out which club, and contact that club directly. Please see list of Clubs and contact details on the next page (Page 3). Players aged from 5 – 19 years of age are placed into teams based on age, gender, and skill level. Teams are then entered into the Whittlesea Pacers Basketball Junior Domestic Competition.
All players are required to pay the Basketball Victoria Annual Participant Licence for players (per 365-days). This is a statewide participation licence that applies to domestic, tournament* and junior representative player registrations and is charged when the player doesn’t already have a licence that covers them for the entirety of the season they’re registering to. $29 – Junior (17 and under) playing participant.
Players will need to pay a Club registration fee (which differs from Club to Club) which normally covers the weekly game fee, weekly training session, and other Club associated costs.
Each club has different registration fees and uniform costs. Each club can provide more information on costs.Â
