SPORTING SCHOOLS – WCBA
Whittlesea Pacers Basketball Association proudly delivers Sporting Schools programs to engage students in fun, inclusive, and high-quality basketball experiences. Our qualified coaches work with schools to develop students’ skills, confidence, and love for the game, while promoting teamwork, physical activity, and healthy lifestyles. We tailor sessions to suit different age groups and abilities, ensuring every child feels encouraged and supported. What is Sporting Schools?
Sporting Schools is an Australian Government program that provides free, high-quality sport activities to primary and lower-secondary students, aiming to boost participation, confidence, and lifelong engagement in physical activity. Delivered in partnership with basketball and over 40 other national sporting organisations, the program targets inactive students, girls, and disadvantaged areas. It fosters school–sport organisation partnerships, builds teacher and coach capability, and supports healthy, active lifestyles.
For accredited Aussie Hoops Centres, Sporting Schools will:
Allow centres to deliver a four to seven-week school-based Aussie Hoops themed program at multiple schools in their region, all year round.
Form a great opportunity for basketball associations to build stronger links with their local school network, and develop better school engagement strategies.
Offer funding for associations to deliver high quality in-school programs, coupled with curriculum and resources provided by Basketball Australia.
