VJBL 2026 Competition Restructure – What it Means

The Victorian Junior Basketball League (VJBL) has confirmed a restructure to its competition framework for the 2025/2026 season.
The key change is the introduction of the Regional League (RL), replacing the Regional Development League (RDL) that was trialed in 2025, and inserting into the broader VJBL competition structure.
The Regional League now sits as the third tier of competition, beneath Victorian Championship (VC) and Victorian Junior League (VJL).
U12: Teams will grade into VC, VJL1–5, or Regional League.
U14: Teams will grade into VC, VJL1-8, or Regional League
U16 & U18: Teams will grade into VC, VJL1+
RL competitions will be organised into geographical pools, meaning travel will be reduced compared to higher divisions.
This restructure provides more appropriate competition levels across the state, while supporting families with manageable travel commitments.

The introduction of the Regional League marks an exciting new chapter for junior basketball in Victoria. For the Whittlesea Pacers, it means stronger development pathways, more teams competing at the right level, and greater opportunities for our athletes to proudly represent the Pacers on a bigger stage.
