VJBL EXPLAINED
Junior representative basketball is an elite competition, where athletes have the opportunity to represent the Whittlesea Pacers against other Associations within the Victorian Junior Basketball League (VJBL). The representative program is for athletes committed to developing their basketball skills and knowledge of the game.

The Victorian Junior Basketball League (VJBL) incorporates competitions conducted state-wide and provides the highest level of junior competition in Victoria. The VJBL boasts 1248 representative teams from 54 associations across Victoria, with over 13,000 participants competing inside 80 plus venues on a Friday night.
The competition includes the U12 to U20 age groups, in a graded structure from Victorian Junior Championship League to the Regional Competition.
The aims of the VJBL are to:
Provide a stimulus for associations to develop teams to the highest competitive level
Provide a format that best promotes the high standards of basketball in Victoria
Provide a relevant step in career paths from domestic basketball through to state, national and international level
Extend the opportunity to players, officials and spectators to participate in and attend high-quality competitions.
In the VJBL competition there are two tiers of competition:
Victorian Junior Championship (VC) – the highest level at which junior teams can play. Only 20 teams across the state make this division across each age and gender group.
Victorian Junior League – VJL1, VJL2, VJL3, VJL4, etc. There are usually 10 teams per VJL division.
The season is broken down into distinct phases of competition:
Tryouts – the start of Term 4 (October).
Grading Phase – November to March.
Championship Phase (regular season) – March to September (18 regular season games across the year).
The VJBL fixture does not schedule games during the Christmas or any school holiday period.
