THE WHITTLESEA PACERS – WHO ARE WE?
The Whittlesea Pacers, based out in Mill Park Victoria, provides Representative-level opportunities to athletes who have previously been participating in domestic-level basketball and wish to represent/further their basketball development in the Victorian Junior Basketball League (VJBL).
At the Whittlesea Pacers, we’re dedicated to helping children grow both on-and-off the basketball court. Our programs foster a supportive and energetic environment where hard work, dedication, teamwork, and enjoyment are at the core. By becoming part of the Whittlesea Pacers, you’re joining a club who values development, connection, and creating opportunities for players to succeed in a safe and well-structured setting for over 30-years and counting.
WHAT IS REPRESENTATIVE BASKETBALL?
Junior representative basketball is an elite competition, where athletes have the opportunity to represent the Whittlesea Pacers against other Associations within the Victorian Junior Basketball League (VJBL). The representative program is for athletes committed to developing their basketball skills and knowledge of the game.
The competition includes the U12 to U20 age groups, in a graded structure from Victorian Junior Championship League to the Regional Competition.
Once players age out, there are further opportunities to play senior representative basketball through our BIG V player pathway.
SEASON BREAKDOWN
Tryouts – the start of Term 4 (September>October).
Grading Phase – November to March.
Championship Phase (regular season) – March to September (18 regular season games across the year).
TRYOUT PROCESS
The Whittlesea Pacers go through an extensive try-out period, whereby if athletes are successful, they will be selected for a team for the following VJBL season.
At the Whittlesea Pacers, basketball tryouts are a critical part of our representative program, designed to identify athletes who demonstrate the skills, attitude, and potential to compete in the VJBL. Our tryouts provide a fair and structured opportunity for all players to showcase their abilities in a supportive yet competitive environment. The Whittlesea Pacers value not only athletic performance but also effort, coachability, and a team-first mentality.
Overseen by our Director of Coaching, the Whittlesea Pacers tryout sessions are run by experienced coaches to ensure consistency, transparency, and objectivity throughout the selection process.
Due to limited spots and a finite number of teams per age group, not all players will be selected. We believe in being transparent and respectful throughout the process.
