WHAT IS THE BIG V SENIOR PROGRAM?
The BIG V Competition is a statewide semi-professional basketball league run by Basketball Victoria, providing a high-level pathway for senior players across Victoria.
It features multiple divisions for both men and women, including Youth League and Senior Championship levels, allowing developing athletes, emerging juniors, and experienced players to compete in structured, community-based competitions.
BIG V clubs represent associations from metropolitan and regional areas, creating strong local rivalries while offering players exposure to higher standards of coaching, officiating, and game play. The league plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between junior representative competitions like Victorian Junior Basketball League and elite national leagues such as NBL1 South, making it an important part of Victoria’s basketball development pathway.
WHITTLESEA PACERS BIG V SEASON 2026!
As we gear up for the 2026 season, we are thrilled to introduce our four powerhouse BIG V teams: the Youth League Men, Youth League Women, Senior Men, and the Senior Women’s team!
Each of these teams embodies the spirit of determination, skill, and passion, as they represent the future and present of our club.
The Youth League Men and Women will showcase the incredible talent of our up-and-coming stars, while the Senior Men & Women’s teams continues to build on its legacy of excellence and competitive spirit.
Together, these four teams are ready to take on the challenges of the season, bringing pride and excitement to our supporters.

BIG V OPEN RUNS
At the Whittlesea Pacers, BIG V open runs are an important part of our senior representative program, designed to identify athletes who demonstrate the skill level, commitment, and mindset required to compete in the Big V competition. These sessions provide a structured and competitive environment for invited and eligible athletes to showcase their abilities.
Please note that not all teams will hold open runs.
The Whittlesea Pacers value not only on-court performance, but also professionalism, work ethic, coachability, and a strong team-first approach that aligns with the standards of our BIG V program.
SEASON BREAKDOWN
The Big V season runs from November to August and is split into key phases.
Pre-season (Nov–Feb) focuses on trials or open runs (where applicable), roster selections, and team preparation.
The Home & Away season (Mar–July) features weekly games across Victoria, with ladder positions determined by wins and losses.
The Finals series (July–Aug) sees the top teams compete in an elimination format to decide each division’s champion, followed by an off-season period of review and recruitment.
